Year 2 and 3KT
Hello past students of mine-2/3KT and 5KT,
I just made an Avatar for Kirsty as she will be doing the Jump Rope for Heart. What do you think of it? I made it on DoppelMe-have a go and make one. Did you do World Maths Day at school this year?
I am enjoying teaching Receptions this term but it is quite tiring! I’ll see if we can share the blog I have with them in the future. Hope you are all well and enjoy swimming week!

Get stuck into your learning and strive to improve all the time. I am really happy about my new school but will miss you all and hold you in my heart forever. I’ll be thinking of you and please write a comment from time to time on the blog.
My new class will have a page-protected to start with and maybe shared in time.

It is not long now until the end of term. We are all waiting for Christmas and have been doing a lot of Advent activities. Now we are getting ready for our Dr Seuss Medley on Monday night. I’ll make sure I get my camera ready for that!
Poor ol’ Stix died a couple of weeks ago and I buried him in a clay pot with Millie’s knitted blanket over him under the tree by the friendship bench. I think that is an appropriate place. We should go out next week and have a prayer session there and bring Twiggy along. Twiggy is doing well-she is getting so big and a lot of the students enjoy having her sit on their hand while they work. She is great at calming people isn’t she?
Only 2 weeks left of 2/3KT as we know it so let’s enjoy it and try to finish off and reflect on all the great things we have done and keep this blog alive!

Well another classmember has joined our class this week-he is crawling up my jacket at the moment and his name is Stix. He has 6 legs and looks like dried up leaves. Yes it is Stix the male Spiny Leaf Insect. He is a very quiet member of the class but boy can he dance! He likes to listen to stories and he was very still when he heard “The Rainbow Fish” this afternon. Thank you Blake, Lisa and Emmerson! It is Stix last night as a bachelor and he will be united with Twiggy his ‘wife to be’ tomorrow. He is looking at the laptop now dancing and grooving on my hand. I try and put him back in his cage but he is not interested in that at all!
Task 1: Exposition writing: “Stix should be able to roam free from his cage whenever he wants” Agree or disagree.
Welcome back to school! Term 4 is exciting as you are all so good at expressing yourself now and we have some new things like 4 computers in the classroom, a new Interactive Whiteboard in the library and best of all a new student from England! Welcome Tom we are all really happy to have you join our class.
Have a look on the Maths fun page as it has the recordings of the maths songs from last Friday-well done to all of you that wrote the songs and performed them-they were fantastic!
On Friday we had a look at the animated movie that a student in England made last year about Star Wars and he used Lego. Our class is great with Lego and Enrico and Manuel have shown a particular talent for creating original works that transform and are great 3 dimensional toys. Our page has gone public! This is very exciting and I would like to you have a look at the different pages we have linked to this page. A current one now is of course the Asian studies page. I will film our folk story that we will turn into a shadow puppet show. There is a U-Tube film about the history of Indonesian Shadow puppets in it.
We will also be studying the patterns in Ikat and Batik Indonesian textiles. You should all know a bit about it now from our spelling activities… Have a great week everyone and I can’t wait to do our tie-dying-I bought the dye tonight. Miss Barge bought the fabric today and is washing it tonight-it is all happening and we should make a mess but a creative and productive one at the same time.
Finally our butterfly emerged from the cocoon yesterday and has been doing his/her daily exercises today-uncurling the proboscis, stretching out the wings and doing a wander/fall/mini fly in its cage. On our class news page you can see a photo of him/her. Damon said that he is good at communicating with animals and was asking the butterfly its gender…he said its a girl and kept calling it “him” so we are still sorting that one out and working on the pronouns!
The butterfly took a walk on the bridge and Caleb was worried that it might knock the current cocoon off but it did not. I reassured him that he needed to let nature take its course. You can see on this page some pictures of the bridge and minibeast units integrated!
Hi 2/3KT today we finished our concrete and steel wire arch bridges. I am really happy with the results and the procedure writing that went with it too! Tomorrow I will take some photos of you all with your bridges and put them on the blog. What do you think? We will also paint the big box. Shall we use it for a puppet show stand/stage or a shop of some kind…we’ll share our ideas tomorrow.

Making those concrete bridges was fun today and I hope they have set well. We will take some photos when they are finished and put them on this blog to go with the great bridge songs and stories.
If you have word processed your story or song can you please email it to me or put it on a memory stick and I will load it onto this blog. You could also do it at school-we just need to get access to a networked computer and have the time to do it too as you wrote so much!

I’ve had a horrible couple of days with my daughter in hospital-I’ll tell you about it at school. She is home now and has a large fear of hospitals, doctors and nurses at the moment. I am not looking forward to trying to give her the antibiotics in the morning…I willl be at school tomorrow and hopefully everything will be back to its “normal ” self. dear miss t on friday my cousins called Kayley and Bryn came over for a sleepover. Me and Kayley stayed up till 12:35. It was fun. Me and Kayley went upstairs and we danced for a little bit but after that Kayley accidentally jumped and made a big noise so we ran back into bed but but luckily Mum and Dad didn’t hear us. But before that we went to see Thomas the tank engine and we got fairy floss and went for a ride on Thomas. After we went onto Thomas, me, Kayley and Bryn went on the fun factory but Caitlin couldnt because she was too small but instead of going on the fun factory Caitlin went on the jumping castle. In the fun factory there was heaps and heaps and heaps of balls and me, Kayley and Bryn all jumped into them. We had a good time. I hope you have had a good holiday too. Love from Brianna.

Hi Sarah,
I am having a great holiday-although some of the jobs I need to do are getting further behind-like writing an essay and painting Kirsty’s room. Kirsty is really well-she has had her cousins from Canberra over and she loves them to bits-one is a baby and the other is 4 years old and they get on like a house on fire.
We went to the museum last week and they loved the giant squid and Egyptian mummies.

Samanthat I really like your Space book and the quick facts bit on the page about the Sun-I wonder how they know that the surface temperature is 6000 degrees C?
No one has ever been to the sun…could satellites measure temperature from a distance…we need to find a good space website to answer some of our questions. Tom had a good question about gravity…Sarah did a great painting of the layers of the atmosphere-I’ll take a photo of the paintings and put it on the blog.

I had a great holiday and am back at work preparing for the students that arrive on Wednesday-Kirsty only has 3 sleeps until school starts-she can’t wait. I have written a message to all of you at school that I taught last year and the year before so if you let others know that would be great. You know Cooper and Ursula in year 7 now? They wrote a comment on the old year 5 page if you could show them the year 2/3 page that would be great and there is a U-Tube video on it. I know how you love music and I can just see you dancing and singing away to it.

Thank you for posting a message. I still blog with my students-even the Receptions I have this term blog-with help from their parents of course! I do remember Brooke and how she is clever with Maths and also a great drawer. I remember how good you are with your writing and spelling in particular! Say hello to my old class-I miss them sometimes. I am glad we have the blog as a memory. I am not sure what is happening next year but for this year I am still at the other school. Nice to hear from you. It would be lovely to have a poster or a little story book that you could write. Remember you and Riley made Kirsty a story book last year? Well she still has it and it is in her bookshelf. She has quite a library. She is really into the Magic School Bus series, Charlie and Lola and also the Rainbow Fairy books now. She can read chapter books! You are all getting older and older now but I am sure that I would recognise you still.
The school might be able to post something to me or you could send it via email-the school office has it now and Al could send an attachment to me.

Thanks for telling me that Kirsty likes the magic school bus and charie and lola. I am really Inpressed about Kirsty reading chapter books I am doing great at school last week my class was learning about measurment. We used water, sand and rice to meausre in cups or containers. Two weeks ago I went up to the Yorke Peninsula to see my grandma and grandpa and also my nanna and papa it was lots of fun. They live in Port Vincent up there.

Thanks for your message. The Pirate party was fun with the dress up part but it was pretty crowed on the Buffalo boat so some of the kids found that hard to deal with. I am so glad there are no kids parties this weekend-I need a break! Kirsty has a special Mass at her school church tomorrow and then a violin practice in the afternoon. August is really busy for her with concerts!
